This book is funny, fun, and entertaining! There were obvious/expected items on the list, and there were a few not so obvious/expected items, but that is what makes it funny!
The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think the author should have added a few stories and/or reasons why he put certain items on the list. That probably contradicts the meaning of a "list," but I think readers would enjoy some personalization... maybe he is saving that for another book!?!
"6001 Things You Won't Miss When You're Dead" is a fun list that gets you thinking about all the annoying, uncomfortable, and downright bad things that we all experience. In a perverse way it also makes you grateful that you don't experience all 6001 of these things at once! It's amazing how many memories and thoughts are provoked by a relatively straightforward list. Some items spark a remarkably vivid memory, like, "Slicing your tongue licking an envelope." I especially liked items that were juxtaposed in phrases. For example "Open heart surgery" followed by "Open heart surgery when you went to the hospital for a sprained ankle" and "Sickeningly wholesome mothers" followed by "Sickeningly trashy mothers." Anyway, this is worth the read.
